Some of these foods are actually ancient foods that have been around since the days of ancient egypt and some of these foods come from the ancient days of the orient. Fermenting food was a good way to preserve foods prior to the invention of freezers and refrigerators. It seems that ancient foods are making a comeback because of the increased nutritional value found in these foods. Although some of these foods have remained popular in their country of origin.
