Vegan Milk and
A Coconut Milk Recipe

Vegan milk can be made from a few plant sources. An almond milk recipe along with a rice milk recipe are two popular non-dairy milks.

A coconut milk recipe will help to give a vegan diet important saturated fats which help with proper cell functioning.

An almond milk recipe can add some much needed protein into a vegan diet and a rice milk recipe is very easy to make.

Plant based milks can also be made from Cashews, Macadamia Nuts, Hazel Nuts, Brazil Nuts, Hemp, and other popular seeds.

Coconut Milk Recipe

Caution! I do not personally recommend putting a coconut on a flaming stove - too many accidents can happen here.

It's probably easier to just do the oven method:

  1. Use a sharp tool to poke thru the eyes on your coconut.
  2. Drain the coconut water into a glass or bowl.
  3. Place the coconut in a shallow pan and put it in your oven (350 to 375 Degree F) for about 20 minutes or until you hear the coconut crack.
  4. Carefully remove the heated coconut from your oven and give it a whack to crack the coconut open.
  5. When the coconut is cool, score the meat with an appropriately shaped sharp knife.
  6. Scoop meat out with a spoon and peel off any brown skin.
  7. Your coconut meat is now ready for grating to make coconut milk.
  8. You can blend your grated coconut meat with coconut water or filtered water.

Almond Milk Recipe

Tips for Making Almond Milk

Raw nuts will give you better nutrition and soaking your almonds overnight will help to remove anti-nutrients.

There is quite some controversy over obtaining raw almonds - especially in California!

Make sure you know your sources and you may want to look into purchasing raw Spanish Almonds for a change.

A Rice Milk Recipe

All you'll need for this rice milk recipe is Organic Brown Rice and Water!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of cooked and warm brown rice
  • 4 to 5 cups of warm filtered water
Optional:
  • Sweetener such as honey, stevia, etc.
  • Flavorings such as vanilla, spices, etc.
Instructions:
  1. Add rice, water, and optional ingredients to a high speed blender.
  2. Blend until smooth consistency is reached.
  3. Strain with cheesecloth, etc.
  4. Enjoy and store remainder in refrigerator for a few days.

Tips for Making Rice Milk

I would soak my brown rice for at least 8 hours or overnight before cooking rice. This helps to eliminate anti-nutrients and makes your rice much more digestible.

You can even make raw rice milk, but I think that cooked rice milk may be more digestible.
